Mathura: Mathura MP and actress Hema Malini on Sunday said that the upcoming two-day 'Braj Mahotsav' festival will be dedicated to the farmers of Mathura who suffered losses in the recent unseasonal rain and thunderstorm.
The programme, scheduled to be held on April 25-26, will be dedicated to the farmers who lost their family members recently after incurring losses, she told PTI.
The money collected from the programmes will be used to help the families of the farmers who committed suicide in the wake of crop loss, the Mathura MP said.
The programme aims at promoting the city's rich cultural heritage and was originally scheduled for April 11-12. It was later postponed in the wake of rain and hailstorm that caused huge damage to the crops.
The organising committee sources here said that many political leaders including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Bollywood actors including Amitabh Bachchan are invited to the programme.
