Islamabad: The PTI workers had staged a sit-in in Faisalabad city of Punjab province and blocked traffic for more than five hours, Dawn online reported.

The protestors chanted slogans against the government and demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif`s resignation over alleged rigging in last year`s general elections.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) members also demonstrated at the Press Club here against the PTI.

On Sunday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will organise a pro-government rally in Faisalabad.

Pakistan`s political stalemate continues as protest leaders, PTI chief Imran Khan and cleric Tahirul Qadri, have refused to give up until Sharif resigns.

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan told his supporters at the sit-in that Sharif enjoys a fake mandate.

The protests that began Aug 15 went on for the ninth day Sunday.
