CBI should probe Dangawas case: Chandra Kanta Meghwal

The Chairman of Committee on Schedule Cast in Rajasthan Assembly Chandra Kanta Meghwal on Saturday demanded a CBI probe into the May 16 clash in Dangawas, in which four persons were killed and seven others injured, saying probe by any other agency was like throwing a sensitive matter into a cold bag.

Kota: The Chairman of Committee on Schedule Cast in Rajasthan Assembly Chandra Kanta Meghwal on Saturday demanded a CBI probe into the May 16 clash in Dangawas, in which four persons were killed and seven others injured, saying probe by any other agency was like throwing a sensitive matter into a cold bag.

Meghwal, an MLA from Ramganjmandi area of the district of the ruling BJP, who was on a four-day visit to the affected area said that she was not satisfied with the inquiry by any agency other than CBI.

"Handing over the investigation of Dangawas case to some other agency like CB-CID is like throwing the investigation of such a sensitive matter into a cold bag," she said, adding that she had met Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje twice and submitted memorandum in this regard.

Meghawal further said that she has also demanded removal of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of Dangawas police station as both officers had committed carelessness in duty on the day of clashes, and that the next of kin of the clash victims should be given government jobs.

Demanding that the accused of the clashes should be booked under Section 376 of IPC (rape), she said they had mercilessly beaten Dalit women below the waist.

Meghwal also demanded that the accused should also be booked under Arms Act as all of them were carrying heavy firearms and sharp weapons.

The BJP MLA further said that she had stayed for four days in Dangawas village among the victim Dalits and assessed their plight by interacting with community men and women.

Four persons were killed during the clash on May 16 and seven others were critically injured, and had been admitted to government hospital Ajmer "where one of them undergoing medical treatment in critical condition died in hospital in Ajmer today," BJP MLA Meghwal said.

She also expressed concern that no public representative has the reached the Dalit in Dangawas village.

"Even the local MLA of Dangawas area has not reached the aggrieved Dalits to console them," Meghwal said.
