Barmer: MP Sona Ram Choudhary currently on a visit to his constituency, has reacted to the water tank collapse incident in the district last month, saying what could he do if the lid collapsed.

The four-time Member of Parliament made the remark here yesterday during a press conference, when he was asked about the water shortage situation, which led to the incident.

He said what he could he do if the girl died in such an incident.

When contacted, Sona Ram said that his comments were "not meant to hurt sentiments".

"I made the comment in a general way that what I can do now if that girl died," he said today.

"The government is making efforts to address the problem of water crisis," the MP added.

On completion of one year of the Modi government, all government MPs are visiting their respective constituencies.

One Nazeera Bano, aged 10 died while 13 others were injured when they fell into an almost dry underground water tank in the district on April 24.

They all were standing on the cover of the round-shaped water tank waiting for their turn to fetch water from the opening of the 25-feet deep tank.
