Chandigarh: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a close associate of Khalistan Liberation Force (KCF) terror outfit here.

A team of Chandigarh police arrested Jasbir Singh, a local resident, from village Khair Dinke in Tarn Taran district of Punjab around midnight, police said.

"Jasbir is a close associate of Paramjit Singh Panjwar, chief of Khalistan Commando Force outfit residing in Pakistan," police said.

Jasbir had helped Rattandeep Singh, the chief of the Bhindranwale Tiger Force of Khalistan (BTFK), to execute a blast near the passport office here in 1999 in which three persons were injured and several vehicles were damaged.

Rattandeep Singh was later arrested by Punjab police from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pardesh in September.

Associate Jasbir Singh also provided financial help to Rattandeep Singh on the direction of KCF chief. He stayed with Panjwar during his visits to Pakistan, police said.

Punjab Police recently arrested chief of Khalistan Liberation Force, Harminder Singh alias Mintoo, and one of his aides.
