Orissa HC grants advance bail to SUM hospital trustees

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Thursday allowed the anticipatory bail applications of SUM Hospital owner Manoj Nayak's wife Saswati Das and his sister Arati Nayak in connection with last month's fire in the private hospital in which at least 30 patients died.

Justice Debabrata Dash allowed the advance bail pleas of Saswati and Arati, who are the members of the Trust that runs the hospital.

Despite repeated summons, when the duo failed to appear before the police, the Twin city Commissionerate police had issued a lookout notice against them.

Manoj Nayak, however, had surrendered before the police. He is now out of jail after a lower court in Bhubaneswar granted him regular bail on October 28.
