Eleven teachers were given the state award while 33 bagged the district awards.

Earlier in the day, Laloo, who is also the education minister emphasised on the need to introspect on the ways and means to promote and improve the quality of education and its system in the state.

He was addressing the state function at the U Soso Tham Auditorium here.

Calling for a concerted effort involving all, Laloo said,"What is the role of the citizens, parents, teachers, students to uplift education in the state. Let us introspect! collectively and judiciously! What the state can do or cannot do... "

Informing that a report on the study on the provincialisation of schools has been submitted to the government, Laloo said, "A higher level committee has to examine the paper before making any recommendations."
