Chennai: A court here on Wednesday granted NIA six days custody of a Sri Lankan national held for allegedly spying for Pakistan.

In a brief order, judge of the designated NIA court, M Moni, allowed Arun Selvarajan's custody to the NIA from September 18 to 23.

A petition was filed by the NIA seeking seven days custody of Arun following his 14-day judicial remand on September 11. He was arrested on September 10.

Yesterday, when the petition seeking custody came up for hearing, the judge sought the view of the accused. He responded by saying that "he was ready to go to police custody".

Selvarajan allegedly posed as an event management professional and had acted at the behest of his handlers in the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo.
