Rape case against Gowda's son is personal matter: Shaina NC

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shaina NC on Thursday refused to comment on the allegations of rape and cheating against Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik, saying this is a personal matter and there is no misappropriation in public life.

"First and foremost, this seems to be an era of competitive expose. You have an allegation for which you have a counter- allegation. I think it's important for law to take its own course," Shaina told ANI here.

"As far as BJP goes, we don't have any reaction. This is a personal matter and there is no misappropriation of anyone in public life. So, I don't think this question can be answered by us," she added.

The Railway Minister has rejected the allegation against his son and alleged a conspiracy.

"Shocked to see this report, it hurt me, my personal and public life is an open book," said Gowda.

He also said that it seemed suspicious as the woman had filed the complaint hours after his son Karthik's engagement.

"Suddenly after engagement, if a girl claims such things, it leads to suspicion," he added.

A Bangalore model had earlier on Wednesday filed a case against Karthik under Sections 420, 376 and 406 (charges relating to cheating and dishonesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The model claims that she married Karthik on June 5, 2014, after meeting him on May 8, 2014.

She also said that she wanted Karthik's family to accept her as their daughter-in-law.
