Former UPA law minister refutes Katju`s charges, says never yielded to pressure from allies

Zee Media Bureau/Hemant Abhishek New Delhi: Congress leader and former Union Law Minister HR Bharadwaj on Monday quashed the allegations of corruption in judiciary during the UPA regime made by Press Council of India chairman and former Supreme Court judge Justice Markandey Katju and claimed that no "undue favours" were given to the judge because proper procedure was followed. Tearing into the allegations of direct appointment of a district judge in Tamil Nadu, Bharadwaj, who was the Union Law Minister during the period in question, said, "So far as political threats to a coalition government is concerned there were always pressure (from allies) on appointment of judges which I never yielded."
