New Delhi: Congress leader Rashid Alvi Thursday termed the case registered against Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda's son, Karthik Gowda, by a Bangalore model who claims to be his wife, as 'unfortunate'.
"It is unfortunate; law will take its own course. But, when a big leader's son, that too of a cabinet minister gets involved in such things, then it becomes even more unfortunate. The entire country is watching what the (NDA) ministers are doing. And, if such things happen within their family, then it becomes clear how much respect they give to women in our society," Alvi told ANI.
"The Prime Minister must implement the Supreme Court's ruling on tainted ministers and such ministers have no right to stay in the cabinet," Alvi added.
On Wednesday, a Bangalore model had filed a case against Karthik Gowda under Sections 420, 376 and 406 (charges relating to cheating and dishonesty) of the Indian Penal Code.
The model claims that she married Karthik Gowda on June 5, 2014, after meeting him on May 8, 2014.
She also said that she wanted his family to accept her as their daughter-in-law.
Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda rejected the allegation saying, "Shocked to see this report, it hurt me, my personal and public life is an open book."
He also said that since the news came right after his son Karthik Gowda 's engagement, it seemed suspicious.
"Suddenly after engagement, if a girl claims such things, it leads to suspicion," said Gowda
Gowda also said that he was looking into the matter and will give a briefing after knowing the truth.
