Vilasrao Deshmukh led Maha in crises: Prithviraj Chavan

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Monday hailed his predecessor and senior Congress leader (late) Vilasrao Deshmukh for bailing out the state in trying times.

Aurangabad: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Monday hailed his predecessor and senior Congress leader (late) Vilasrao Deshmukh for bailing out the state in trying times.

"Vilasrao Deshmukh had successfully led the state in the time of crises. Deshmukh had the ability to create confidence among his workers and party leaders," said Chavan.

He was addressing a function to inaugurate the memorial-cum-museum of Deshmukh at Rena Co-operative Sugar factory in Nivada village.

"The memorial of a successful leader like Vilasrao Deshmukh would give inspiration to the young generation. Deshmukh had left no stone unturned for the development of Marathwada region. He had made all-out efforts to make Mumbai an international-level city and implemented various projects in other parts of the state as well," the chief minister said.

Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, state ministers Satej Patil, Madhukar Chauhan, Amit Deshmukh and others were also present on the occasion.
