Action will be taken against culprits in Latur rape case: Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday expressed concern over the alleged rape of a minor girl by her two teachers in Latur district and said stern action will be taken against the guilty.

The incident which took place yesterday was raised in the assembly by BJP MLA Sudhakar Bhalerao and said that the girl, was studying in class V at a resident ashram school in Kadgaon village in Latur and belonged to Matang community.

She was raped allegedly by two of her teachers and succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.

"Police conducted the panchnama and the hospital did the post mortem without informing the family. Since yesterday the dead body is in hospital and is not being handed over to the family," Bhalerao informed the House.

Intervening in the matter, Fadnavis said it was a serious incident and role of the school management, police, doctors and teachers would be probed.

He said stern action would be taken against those found guilty behind the heinous act.

Yashomati Thakur (Congress) said such incidents happen in rural areas but are not all reported. She demanded capital punishment for the culprits.
