Yeddyurappa challenges Siddaramaiah for debate on Modi rule

Slamming Siddaramaiah for making light of Narendra Modi government's achievements, BJP National Vice President BS Yeddyurappa today challenged the Karnataka Chief Minister for a debate on the issue, saying BJP had tried to clear the "stains" of UPA's 10-year rule.

Bengaluru: Slamming Siddaramaiah for making light of Narendra Modi government's achievements, BJP National Vice President BS Yeddyurappa today challenged the Karnataka Chief Minister for a debate on the issue, saying BJP had tried to clear the "stains" of UPA's 10-year rule.

Accusing Siddaramaiah of "arrogance", Yeddyurappa, a former Chief Minister, said achievements of the Congress government in the state itself were "zero" and so it was targeting the Modi administration.

The state BJP strongman's reaction came in response to Siddaramaiah's bitter attack on the Modi government at a conference held in Davanagere last week to mark the two year rule of the Congress government in the state.

" ...As he (Siddaramaiah) was aware that achievements of his government was zero, he criticised BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi," Yeddyurappa said at an interaction jointly organised by Press Club of Bangalore and Bangalore Reporters Guild here.

" ...I request the Chief Minister... Let us both debate on the 10-year rule of UPA government and one year of Modi rule," he said adding that no chief minister in the past had behaved "in such a way by talking lightly about others."

Listing out achievements of the Modi government, Yeddyurappa said, "We have tried to cleanse the stains of Congress' ten years misrule to an extent."

The Prime Minister has attained the stature of a world leader, he said, adding "Modi does not want any certificate from Mallikarjuna Kharge (Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha) or Siddaramaiah."
