Train passengers looted in Jamshedpur

Nine passengers onboard Mumbai-Howarh Geetanjali Express were found unconscious in the train at Tatanagar Station and admitted in government-run MGM Hospital, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

Jamshedpur: Nine passengers onboard Mumbai-Howarh Geetanjali Express were found unconscious in the train at Tatanagar Station and admitted in government-run MGM Hospital, Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

All the nine persons were rushed to the Railway Hospital, where doctors referred them to MGM Hospital, said a GRP officer.

The victims were travelling in S-7 coach and had boarded the train from various stations including Mumbai and Kurla.

A youth had boarded the train at Gondia and befriended them soon, the GRP officer said adding that the youth offered them cold drink allegedly laced with sedatives.

The passengers fell unconscious after consuming the drink and the youth decamped with their belongings including cash, jewellery, mobile phones, clothes, the officer said.

The passengers were out of danger and undergoing treatment in the hospital, he said.
