Srinagar: In a thanksgiving gesture, NC leader Omar Abdullah on Saturday visited several areas of Beerwah constituency, the seat he won in the recently concluded Assembly polls.

This visit came days after Omar relinquished the post of caretaker chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar thanked people for reposing faith in him and selecting him as their local representative.

As the state is reeling under the spell of biting cold wave, the former chief minister took stock of the situation and directed the concerned officers to redress the public issues on priority.

"It is necessary to ensure the resolution of all issues and public grievances on time. In these harsh winters, there are many issues concerning the general public, which must be solved in a time-bound manner," he said.

Omar also assured the people that he will be available and accessible to his constituents all the time.

The NC Working President had contested the recent Assembly elections on two seats-- Sonawar and Beerwah.

He lost Sonawar and won Beerwah with a narrow margin.
