Woman 'disappears' from IGI airport washroom after returning from honeymoon

New Delhi: A Lucknow-based man was left stunned at the IGI airport, yesterday evening after his newly-wed wife went missing from a washroom at Terminal 1C at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

Returning from their honeymoon, the couple had landed in Delhi on a SpiceJet flight from Bagdogra and were to take a connecting flight to Lucknow when the woman handed her phone and purse to her husband, saying that she will back from the washroom in a minute.

That was the last time the husband saw her. After waiting for a while, the worried man handed over a picture of his wife to a woman and asked her to check inside the washroom.

The woman came back saying that no one matching the pic was inside the washroom. He then searched his wife all around the airport terminal before seeking help from CISF officials.

The CISF also launched a search but were unable to trace the lady and later checked the CCTV footage of the area.

The footage showed the woman, wearing a blue saree enter the washroom at 6:14 pm and after three minutes a burqa-clad woman is seen leaving the place.

Cameras captured the woman heading straight to the exit and onto the VIP parking area of the terminal where she met a man and both of them moved ahead – out of the CCTV coverage area.

When the husband was shown the CCTV footage, he accepted that the gait and body structure of the burqa-clad woman was similar to that of his wife but he was not 100% confident.

The CISF first took it as a case of kidnapping or human trafficking but, as per reports, now believe that the woman deliberately left her husband .

Though the police were called in, the husband is yet to file a formal complaint.
