Chennai: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) which has managed to win seven legislative seats in Telangana and two in Maharashtra, is planning to make its inroads into Tamil Nadu Assembly.

With ambitions to go national, AIMIM under the leadership of Asaduddin Owaisi has already contested Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Telangana. The party now has two seats in Maharashtra and seven in Telangana Assembly.

If it manages to win two in Tamil Nadu

As per a Hindustan Times report, The party had initially planned to contest from six seats in Tamil Nadu, but after contemplating on all aspects it decided to contest from Vaniyambadi in Vellore district and Krishnagiri in Krishnagiri district.

Both the constituencies are said to be Urdu-speaking Tamil Muslim dominated areas.

At present, both the seats are represented by AIADMK leaders in the state Assembly.

Meanwhile, reports also claim that the party may make some dent in Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Congress' vote share during Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
