New Delhi: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Tuesday filed a petition seeking Supreme Court monitored Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the mysterious Vyapam scam.

"This is the biggest scam ever and some powerful people are involved in it. I believe the Supreme Court should look into the matter," ANI quoted Singh as saying.

Singh further added that the Congress Party suspects that some powerful people are involved in the the rising number of deaths of persons associated with the Vyapam scam.

At least 25 accused and witnesses, including the son of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, Shailesh, have died in the high-profile Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, also known as Vyapam scam.

A Madhya Pradesh High Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) is supervising the probe by the state's Special Task Force (STF) into the scam, in which the role of some senior state government officials and politicians has come under the scanner.

The Vyapam scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), which holds exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.

Candidates allegedly bribed government officials to ensure that they made it to the list of those who cleared the test.
