Multi tasking staff (MTS) working in the ministries will be reimbursed for acquiring driving license by the government, which is faced with a shortage of staff car drivers.

New Delhi: Multi tasking staff (MTS) working in the ministries will be reimbursed for acquiring driving license by the government, which is faced with a shortage of staff car drivers.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has revised model recruitment rules and issued order to allow the dispatch riders and multi tasking staff (Group C employees), for filling the post of staff drivers, to avail reimbursement for acquiring driving licence for motor cars, an official release issued on Friday said.

The DoPT has also advised various ministries or departments to review the existing recruitment rules for the post of staff car drivers and bring them in conformity with the model recruitment rules.

Vacancies of staff car driver will thus be filled first by deputation or absorption from amongst the regular dispatch rider and Group C employees in the same ministry who possess valid driving license for motor cars failing which from employees of equivalent posts in other ministries of the central government who fulfil the necessary qualifications, it said.

"The change in model recruitment rules will help in filling the existing and anticipated vacancies for the post of staff car drivers," a DoPT official said.
