Delhi Police officials have arrested two persons in connection with placing of pistol and cartridges in a bus routed through JNU (on Thursday).

New Delhi: Delhi Police officials have arrested two persons in connection with placing of pistol and cartridges in a bus routed through JNU last week.

One of the two arrested persons is brother of Amit Jani, who has threatened to behead Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid.

Amit Jani's brother Saurabh Aggarwal has told police that the plot to kill Kanhaiya Kumar was hatched in a hotel in Paharganj, according to a report in ToI.

Sulabh Bhardwaj is the other person who was arrested by police with Saurabh Aggarwal.

During the interrogation, Saurabh Aggarwal told police that Amit Jani and Sulabh Bhardwaj came to Delhi from Meerut in his car and then went to a hotel in Paharganj.

"Amit Jani briefed us about the plan and asked us to keep the weapon," Saurabh Aggarwal told police.

Saurabh is on police remand for two days while Bhardwaj has been sent to judicial custody .

Earlier, on Thursday, the driver of the bus on route 615 had called up the police at 2 pm informing them about pistol and cartridges in the bus.

Around the same time, an anonymous caller had alerted JNU's security room about weapons being sent to kill Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid.

Amit Jani, the self-styled head of a group called UP Navnirman Sena, is still out of police net.
