Modi govt okays changes of few cities name, Bellary will be now known as Ballari

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government on Friday okayed proposals suggested in the name of few cities of the country. 

According to reports, the name of the following cities have been amended and will be now known by their new names only:

Bellary will now be known as Ballari, Banglore as Bengaluru, Manglore as Mangaluru, Bijapur as Vijapura, Belgaum as Belgavi, Chikmagalur has been renamed as Chikkamagaluru, Gulbarga as Kalaburgi, Mysore as Mysure, Hospet as Hosapete, Shimoga as Shivamogga, Shimoga as Shivmogga, Hubli as Hubballi and Tumkur as Tumakuru.
