A peek into Indrani Mukerjea's past

Mumbai/Guwahati: As the murder mystery of Sheena Bora continues to surprise the nation, a report published in The Telegraph says Indrani Mukerjea, aka Pari, had run away from her home in Assam, when she was studying in tenth standard.

According to the report, the incident dates back to sometime around 1982. Throwing light on Indrani's past, her school mates told the daily that she had run away from her home, but was caught at Guwahati railway station and brought back.

After passing Class X, Indrani headed to Shillong and enrolled herself at Lady Keane College.

It is being said Indrani met Siddharth Das in Shillong. Some media reports have claimed that Sheena and Mikhail Bora are children of Siddhartha.

Speaking to The Telegraph, one relative of Indrani's family said that both (Siddharth and Indrani) behaved like a couple and remembers the two moving around in a Kinetic scooter with Sheena (then 2 years old) on her lap.

The family friend said that Siddhartha used to stay at Indrani's place, and her father had also helped them open a food joint, which did not run for long.

According to the family friend the food joint failed and Indrani searched for jobs. However, she disappeared without informing anybody, leaving behind Sheena and Mikhail with her parents.

Then in the nineties she married Sanjeev Khanna in Kolkata.

Later, after marrying former STAR India CEO Peter Mukerjea in 2002, she visited her house in Guwahati.

Divulging further details about Indrani's family, a relative told the newspaper that Upen was not her biological father and 'Pari' was more closer to Durga (her mother). While staying out of Guwahati, she never contacted Upen or her children, but remained in touch with Durga. The relative also said that Durga knew about Indrani's marriage with Durga.

In April 2002, the new birth certificates were made in the name of Sheena and Mikhail, which mentioned Upen and Durga as their parents.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria has maintained that Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012. Her body was found on May 23 that year after Indrani's driver Shyam Rai revealed the murder site to police.

Both Indrani and the driver were arrested on Tuesday on charges of killing Sheena and disposing off her body in Raigad, near Mumbai. A court sent Indrani to police custody till August 31.

Sanjeev Khanna, the former husband of Indrani, arrested in connection with the Sheena murder case, was today remanded in Mumbai police custody till August 31 by the court of Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate.

The police alleged in the court that Khanna had played an active role in the conspiracy and murder of 24-year-old Sheena, daughter of Indrani, and he had to be taken to the spot where she was killed on April 24, 2012.
