Shimla: There has been no let up in security arrangements on the borders of Chamba district adjoining Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh DGP Sanjay Kumar said on Tuesday.

12 OCPs (Out check posts) have been established on the border area and police force has been deployed to keep constant vigil on the movements and activities of people who come across the border, he said.

In addition, 466 SPOs (special Police officers) and 749 Village Defense Committee Members are engaged in surveillance and security duty in the bordering area and CCTV cameras have also been installed on Sansari Nallah and Sewa Bridge BCPs (Border check posts) to record the movements of people passing through these routes.

An Inter State Coordination Meeting under the Chairmanship of IG/Northern Range Dharamsala was held at Dalhousie on July 10 with the police authorities of J&K and Punjab to discuss/review the border situation and the Bhadarwah police informed at the meeting that there was substantial decrease in the militancy in J&K since 2011 and Doda and Kishtwar districts have been declared militancy free.

Several steps have been taken to prevent ingress of any unwanted elements in the State, he said, adding that a record of labourers and outsiders, entering Chamba district for work with contractors is maintained properly in all Police Stations of the district.
