Vadodara: The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU) has received a grant of Rs 20 crore under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA).
"The grant of Rs 20 crore from RUSA will help the M S University a great deal, particularly when the university is preparing to upgrade its facilities and infrastructure to securing 'A' grade from NAAC," Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh said.
The amount sanctioned is for the period 2014-17.
Four other varsities in Gujarat- Sardar Patel University, Kachchh University, Saurashtra University and Veer Narmad South Gujarat University have been allocated Rs 20 crore each under the RUSA funding.
RUSA is a national scheme of higher education development launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, in 2013 to promote infrastructure development in state universities.
It is aimed at increasing the enrolment of students in the higher education system. As per the RUSA guidelines, 65 per cent funds are provided by the central government and 35 per cent grants are provided by the state government.
