Gujarat CM addresses 1.25 lakh women on National Milk Day

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel felicitated progressive women cattle rearers and milk producing co-operative societies at a function in Banaskantha district today, on the occasion of 'Amul Man' Dr Verghese Kurien's birth anniversary, which is celebrated as National Milk Day.

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel felicitated progressive women cattle rearers and milk producing co-operative societies at a function in Banaskantha district today, on the occasion of 'Amul Man' Dr Verghese Kurien's birth anniversary, which is celebrated as National Milk Day.

The function was organised by Banas dairy at Badarpura village of Banaskantha district in memory of Dr Kurien.

Apart from those present at the venue, Patel addressed more than 1.25 lakh women cattle rearers of different parts of the state through a satellite broadcast, an official press release said.

In her speech, Patel remembered Kurien, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Tribhovandas Amin for their invaluable role in developing Gujarat's co-operative sector, which is now considered a benchmark.

The CM also urged women to take up Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat-Swasth Bharat' mission. She appealed to women to take the lead in building toilets in each and every home, the release said.
