Somnath Bharti's midnight raid: Delhi Police to file charge sheet in Oct

Delhi Police has told a city court here that it will file the charge sheet in first week of October in a case pertaining to former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti's purported midnight raid on some African residents.

New Delhi: Delhi Police has told a city court here that it will file the charge sheet in first week of October in a case pertaining to former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti's purported midnight raid on some African residents.

The submissions came after the court pulled up the police for failing to file the final status report in the case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Chetna Singh, meanwhile, posted the matter for October 1 while directing the police to file its final status report "without fail".

The court had on May 26 issued a notice to the Investigation Officer of Delhi Police to remain present "in person" with the final status report.

The court had on January 29 asked Delhi Police to file a status report while refusing to order lodging of a separate FIR on a plea by an African woman seeking registration of a case against unnamed persons.

However, it had asked Delhi Police that the Ugandan woman be made co-complainant in the first FIR lodged on January 19 as she was also "the victim" of the same incident.
