Teachers of Swami Shraddhanand College of Delhi University staged a protest on Monday against the alleged non-payment of salaries to six ad-hoc teachers.

New Delhi: Teachers of Swami Shraddhanand College of Delhi University staged a protest on Monday against the alleged non-payment of salaries to six ad-hoc teachers.

"We had staged a six-day long protest last month after six ad-hoc teachers were arbitrarily sacked by the college administration. We called off the agitation on September 1 when the teachers were asked to resume their duties and assured of payment of salary," said Manish Kumar, President, SSN College Teachers Association.

"The college Principal had cited shortage of funds as the reason behind non-payment of their salaries. According to the accounts department, the college has received a fund of Rs 10 lakh from the government but still they haven't been paid," he claimed.

The teachers said they will continue to protest till their demands are met but there will be no disruption of classes.

The college's Principal Dr S K Kundra was not immediately available for comment.
