Delhi govt formation: BJP, RSS leaders meet at Gadkari`s residence

Zee Media Bureau/Biplob Ghosal New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders on Thursday met at Nitin Gadkari`s residence to deliberate on exploring possibilities of forming the government in Delhi. The meeting was attended by BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and RSS leaders Bhaiyyaji Joshi and Suresh Soni. The meeting assumes significance as reports have been doing rounds that the BJP is keen to form the government with the help of lone JD(U) and Independent MLAs. However, the party is yet to give any official confirmation on this. During the 2012 Assembly polls, the BJP had won 31 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. However, party leaders Dr Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pervesh Verma have been elected to the Lower House in the recent Lok Sabha elections, thus reducing its number to 28. Recently, newly-elected Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay had said that the party would soon take a call on whether it should contest the elections or form a government. Meanwhile, AAP has accused the BJP of trying to "buy MLAs" and party chief Arvind Kejriwal has said that the saffron party was avoiding elections in Delhi as it was scared of losing. The former Delhi chief minister also alleged that the BJP was trying to break away Congress legislators in its bid to form the government in Delhi. Delhi has been under suspended animation for four months now, after the AAP government quit after ruling the national capital for 49 days. No party in the capital has staked claim to form the government and this might pave the way for fresh elections.
