Mumbai: These green crusaders from India's financial capital has just completed an amazing feat by removing hundreds and thousands of tonnes of waste from the city's filty Versova Beach and turning it into an immaculate patch of green coconut lagoon.

Amazingly, this was achieved in just 88 days!

This accomplishment is a big thumbs up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's “Swachh Bharat Abhyan”, which envisages a clean, pollution-free and healthy India.

It is also an example of what people can be achieve when they resolve to do something for their neighbourhood and the country.

“We have grown so habitual to debris and filth that it has stopped bothering us. In short, India’s exquisiteness is stunning, but it is often caught circumscribed amid the debris.

“In an attempt to do away with a certain section of this wreck, last year, folks in Mumbai participated in a massive clean-up drive, eradicating 5.6 million kg of trash from the infamous Versova Beach,” one of the green crusaders said.

To turn this once stinking beach into a green paradise, the residents have planted a whopping 300 coconut trees over the weekend.

And this amazing feat was achieved by 500 members of Versova Residents Volunteers (VRV) led by Afroz Shah.

Posting a picture of the beach on Facebook, Shah said, “This is versova beach an hour back. Week 85 of cleanup. Versova beach is gorgeous and clean now. we have done our bit. We need to maintain it.”

Now the residents plan to plant 200 more trees.

This novel effort has given Versova Beach a new lease of life and an identity.

These green crusaders deserve a big thumbs up.
