BJP decimates NCP in Pimpri-Chinchwad civic polls

Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decimated the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in its traditional bastion of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Elections 2017 to emerge winner.

The BJP bagged 78 out of the 128 seats, while the NCP managed to win only 35 seats this time.

Shiv Sena, BJP's bickering ally in the Maharashtra government, won only nine seats, while MNS won a single seat.

Independent candidates won in five places.

The PCMC elections 2017 had seen a ‘historic high’ voting percentage of 67 percent, a jump of 15 percent from the 2012 civic elections.

The massive victory registered by the BJP is certainly a feather in the cap for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his government and has made it amply clear that the BJP is, by far, the biggest and most popular in Maharashtra at the moment.
