Days after complaint from BJP MP, New Maha Sadan caterer penalised

The New Maharashtra Sadan was in the news in 2014 when Shiv Sena MPs allegedly tried to force feed a worker observing Roza, claiming bad quality food was served to them.

New Delhi: The New Maharashtra Sadan has penalised its catering contractor for not following certain conditions of the contract, a senior official said on Friday, days after a BJP MP complained about bad service in the canteen.

Maharashtra Resident Commissioner Aabha Shukla did not elaborate on the reason behind the step but confirmed that he was fined.

"The contractor was penalised for not following certain conditions of the contract," she said.

Earlier this week, Sunil Gaikwad, a BJP MP from Latur, had complained of unsatisfactory service in the New Maharashtra Sadan canteen. Gaikwad was not available for comment.
