Chikmagalur: A police constable at Chikmagalur district in Karnataka was suspended for dragging out an old man from a temple.

The incident took place on Monday at Shringeri Sharadamba Temple, when the old man was allegedly forcibly taken out by a policeman, as the old worshipper tried to enter the temple. As per news agency ANI, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's family was inside the temple at the time of the incident.

In an amateur video, the constable can be seen holding the old devotee by his shirt collar and dragging him out of the temple.

However, the police department took immediate action after the incident was brought to their notice. Senior police officer told media that the policeman has been identified and suspended. During the incident, someone from the crowd captured the entire episode on his mobile and shared it on the social media. 

The 15-second long video sparked outrage from the people.
