Ranchi: Former Deputy mayor of Dhanbad Neeraj Singh and three others were killed in a shootout in the city on Tuesday, according to an ANI report. 

According to a media report, few unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate firing at a car killing the former deputy mayor and three others. Singh, his friend Ashok Yadav, his driver and a bodyguard were killed in the shootout today evening.

According to police, the incident took place when Singh was returning to his home in his SUV. As soon as his vehicle slowed down, few gunmen opened indiscriminate firing at his vehicle. 

Singh, who was sitting on the front seat in the car, received at least 17 bullets on him. 

The other accomplice in the car also received multiple bullets. All the four men were rushed to a local hospital where they were declared dead. 

The police recovered at least 50 AK 47 bullet shells from the crime spot.

Meanwhile, a massive manhunt has been launched in Dhanbad and adjoining areas to nab the assailants. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident.
