Ranchi: After Uttar Pradesh, now Jharkhand government has ordered closure of illegal slaughterhouses.

The order was passed on Monday asking the illegal abattoirs to shutdown within 72 hours.

Jharkhand Urban Development Minister Chandreshwar Prasad Singh today said illegal slaughterhouses have to be closed down across the state, only legal ones would be allowed to function.

Principal Secretary (Home) SKG Rahate wrote to all deputy commissioners, senior superintendents of police, superintendents of police, municipalities and notified area committees to take steps for closure of illegal abattoirs.

Stating that notice must be issued to all illegal slaughter houses for closing operations within 72 hours, the letter asked the officials not to allow any illegal abattoirs to operate within their jurisdictions.

Rahate also said that valid slaughter houses must ensure compliance of the rules and regulations laid down by the Animal Husbandry Department and Health Department.

The step comes just days after newly-elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered shutting down of illegal slaughter houses in the state.
