Srinagar: One jawan was killed while three people including two soldiers got injured after a group of militants attacked a Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) patrol party in Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar district on Saturday.

A CRPF official in Srinagar said terrorists laced with AK-rifles indiscriminately opened fire at around 5:50 pm on a vehicle near the Pantha Chowk bus stand in Srinagar causing bullet injuries to a jawan and the driver of the vehicle.

CRPF personnel retaliated but there was no immediate report of any casualty on the militant side.

At least two soldiers were critically injured in the attack. One civilian also received injuries in the incident. 

The injured soldiers were evacuated to a military hospital at Badamibagh, Srinagar and are undergoing treatment. 

After the terrorist attack, joint combing and search operation by police, paramilitary and Army have been launched in the area to track down the attackers.

According to a News18 report, at least 2-3 terrorists are believed to have carried out the attack. 

As per the report, the terrorists managed to flee after launching the attack on the CRPF jawans and are holed up near a school building in Srinagar.
