New Delhi: One army jawan and a civilian were killed in Pakistan firing on Saturday even as the security forces continued a massive manhunt in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district in response to a daring terror attack on a military base a day earlier.

A 45-year-old woman was killed in a cross-border shelling from Pakistan in J&K's Mendhar sector early on Saturday. She has been identified as Raqia Begum, a resident of upper Golat in Mendhar.

Later on the day, army jawan Jagram Singh Tomar lost his life in another ceasefire violation by Pakistan. The incident took place in the state's KG sector at around 5 pm.

Meanwhile, the security forces have continued their search operation in Kupwara on Saturday after the attack on 42 Rashtriya Rifles headquarters by terrorists last night.

One soldier was injured when the terrorists had opened fire. The attack lasted for at least 10 minutes. He was later shifted to a military hospital in Drugmulla.

The army in collaboration with the para commandos was carrying out the operation in north Kashmir's Kupwara, comprising forested areas of Kunnad, Kani Behak, Batpora Haihama, Manigah and Chat.

Also on Saturday, an explosion occurred in Srinagar's Dalgate area. However, there was no report of casualty.
