HC tells Omar Abdullah to settle marital dispute in family court

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday told former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to settle his marital dispute in the family court.

The court passed this observation while disposing of petition filed by Omar Abdullah regarding his marital dispute.

In his plea, Omar Abdullah had sought directions against the order dated September 9, 2016 of the family court (Patiala House) in the maintenance petition of his estranged wife Payal Abdullah.

Omar had also sought quashing of proceedings against him.

The court directed both the parties` counsels to address arguments in the family court on December 12 as scheduled without seeking adjournments or delays.

In September 2011, Omar confirmed that he and his wife are separated but last year a trial court rejected Omar's divorce petition.
