Michael Vaughan predicts 5-0 series loss for England in upcoming Test series with India

New Delhi: England were not at their absolute best in the 1st Test on their tour to Bangladesh and many cricket pundits including the former Three Lions' captain Michael Vaughan wasn't impressed with his side's performance.

The Alastair Cook led England secured a nail-biting 22-run victory over Bangladesh following a man-of-the match performance by all-rounder Ben Stokes with the ball.

Speaking to BBC, Vauhan said that if England play the same way against India during their Test series in November, they will be whitewashed 5-0 by the No. 1 side in the world.

"If they perform like they did against Bangladesh, it'll be 5-0," said the former English skipper.

Vaughan even criticized England for their starting off poorly.

"England for such a long time are always 30 or 40 for three. If they're 30 or 40 for three against India they'll get blown away.

"Yes, you celebrate a win, but hopefully England, in the background, are being honest with themselves that they can play better."

England made 293 and 240 in two innings against a Bangladesh but started off poorly in both innings, collapsing to 21-3 in the first and 28-3 in second.

With India set to include ICC No. 1 Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin, along with another deadly and slow left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, England's determination will be put to test in the 5-match series commencing next month.

Resuming play on 253/8 on Day 5 of the first Test, Bangladesh's Rahman and Islam added 10 more runs to the total and were looking all set to guide their team to what would have been their biggest Test win. But that was not the case as Stokes shifted the momentum in England's favour in the fourth over of the day with a double blow.

The home crowd was left as they could not believe the narrow loss incurred by the hosts, who needed just 23 more runs to win the match.
