BIZARRE! Controversial Kane Williamson dismissal against Pakistan leaves many fuming — VIDEO

New Delhi: On the first day of the 2nd New Zealand-Pakistan Test at Hamilton, Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson was subjected to a bizarre DRS decision which left many bemused.

It happened off the 5th ball of the 15th over with Sohail Khan bowling to Williamson, who was batting on 13.

The back of a length ball beat Williamson by the pace and swing, and there's loud appeal for a caught behind. Umpire Simon Fry declined, but Pakistan had DRS, and opted to go for review.

There was no sign of an edge with hot spot showing no blot, but a clicking sound was audible. And third umpire Ian Gould preferred the sound over sight.

Few TV commentators said there was some amount of double-noise, possibly from the ball kissing the edge then hitting Williamson’s elbow. No conclusive though.

The decision left many concerned, questioning the purpose of having a third umpire with technology at his disposal.
