6 demands printed on t-shirt: How a TDP MP came to Parliament to lodge his protest

NEW DELHI: Keeping up the party's demand for a special status for Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP CM Ramesh came to Parliament on Thursday wearing a t-shirt which had six demands for the state printed on it. 'Implement AP Reorganisation Act Commitments Announce Railway Zone', 'We Demand Special Status for Andhra Pradesh State', 'We want steel plant at Kadapa' are some of the demands that were seen printed on his t-shirt.

Meanwhile, two BJP ministers - Kamineni Srinivas Rao and P Manikyala Rao - tendered their resignations to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday. The resignation comes in response to the TDP's decision to pull out of the Centre over its refusal to grant Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had announced on Wednesday that two TDP ministers - P Ashok Gajapathi Raju (Civil Aviation) and YS Chowdary (Minister of State for Science and Technology) - will tender their resignations on Thursday. Naidu had alleged that the Centre has done a huge injustice to the state.

Handing over their resignations, the BJP legislators thanked Naidu for the opportunity and the Chief Minister also appreciated their efficient working. "I had the privilege of working with him for more than three-and-a-half years. I recently asked him about his opinion on my work. He gave me the certificate that I have no enemies," he said.

The resignations came ahead of the presentation of the budget for 2018-19 in the Assembly by Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu. Both BJP ministers had also stayed away from the cabinet meeting here that was convened to formally approve the budget.
