Audi has launched its most powerful car, the 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback in India at a price of Rs 1.28 Crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo (TFSi), V8 producing 560PS of peak power and 700NM of peak torque, the 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback is a car that is quantified by the numbers it puts down on paper. Power is delivered by Audi’s trademark Quattro all-wheel-drive system through a 8-speed automatic gearbox.
As we mentioned, the 2014 RS7 is Audi’s most powerful production car developing 10PS more than Audi’s Flagship R8 V10 Plus. The RS7 Sportback is based on the A7 sedan that Audi launched two years ago but features aggressive styling that includes a reworked front grille and bumper. The front grille features the same honeycomb-style grille that features in the likes of the Audi RS5. The highly detailed front bumpers that feature two large air intakes on either side give the 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback an aggressive stance and accentuate the sporty characteristics of the car.
The Audi RS7 features 20-inch wheels shod with 275/35 R20 tyres that help put down all the power. The 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback also features a reworked rear bumper with the trademark RS-spec oblong exhausts on either side ensuring noises befitting a German Philharmonic Orchestra. Audi claims the RS7 can achieve a 0-100kmph time in just 3.9 seconds onto a limited top speed of 255kmph. The speed limiter can be deactivated on the request of the customer giving the 2014 Audi RS7 a top speed of 305kmph.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Joe King, Head, Audi India, said, "After the overwhelming response to our Audi RS5 which further boosted our leadership in the luxury sportscar segment in India, we are confident that the 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback with its aesthetic design and impressive sportiness would establish new benchmarks in the performance sportscar segment in India"
The 2014 Audi RS7 will go head-to-head against the soon to be launched Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG and the BMW M6 GranCoupé. With more power than a supercar and four comfortable seats to ferry your nearest and dearest around, this is certainly one car we at ZigWheels are looking forward to driving soon!
