“I still admire and follow the life of a soldier,” said Shah Rukh Khan.

I think there is no greater human being or person in the country or anywhere in the world than the people who serve the armed forces.

At the IIMB’s Leadership Summit – IIMBUE, organised by IIMB Alumni Association the Hindi film star taking a question of Kaushik Mukherjee, Karnataka Chief Secretary.

Kaushik Mukherjee: Do you still have fauji in you?

To this question, Shah Rukh Khan went nostalgic and took everyone in the audience down the memory lane by saying “I had a chance to live that life, a very small part of it, when I was in the television serial as Abhimanyu Rai in Fauji. When I was in the age of 33-34 years.”

I think or even earlier and just see to their lifestyle, their simplicity and just following orders, difficult orders. Sometimes perhaps not even knowing where it’s taking them.

And you really really have to be a soldier to be able to do this and I have a huge amount of respect for them. My father-in-law is from the army. So I liked those bits too.

On top of this you know the guys who retired from the army always utter. ‘How is the weather young man?’

Hollywood picks

To a question posed by Indian tennis legend, Vijay Amritraj’s question ‘It’s a selfish question, If you had a pick, which Hollywood star female would  you like to work opposite to?

There are many actors, its not that I want to act with seniors actors I just want to learn from them. Whatever the chance is given, choice is there.

If I can or would love to work with every actor, but the one actor I think would just stand around and be the same hair of is Meryl Streep.

She stands outstandingly amazingly real and fantastically talented, gifted and I just like the ease with which she works. I mean Jennifer Lawrence of today’s time and she amazingly as an actor and she looks really good.
