The pilot launch of pre-fabricated sanitary installations by Thomas Cook (India) took place at Udhagamandalam.
Six pre-fabricated toilet units were installed at the tourist destination. They include scientifically designed drainage facilities with an exhaust fan per unit, and equipped with facilities like hand wash and air-freshener.
Sterling Resorts, Thomas Cook India’s subsidiary, would maintain the units, a company release said.
Abraham Alapatt, President and Group Head (Marketing, Service Quality, Financial Services and Innovation), Thomas Cook, said the effort is intended to improve sanitation and hygiene of prime tourist locations across the country. “We are targeting major tourist hubs so that our sanitation facility meets the needs of tourists and the local community and further the government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.”
