Eminent ecologist S Faizi has been elected president of the Ethological Society of India (ESI) at its 40th annual meeting held at the University of Agriculture and Horticulture, Shivamogga, recently. He succeeds Geetha Bali, who is also the chair of the National Council of NITs. Faizi has been a key negotiator in the formation of the Convention on Biological Diversity. ESI seeks to promote animal behaviour studies in the country.
