“Ease of doing business is still a slogan,” said Irfan Razack, CMD, Prestige Group of Companies, here today.
Speaking after receiving Sir M Visvesvaraya Memorial Award of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI), Razack said, “Governments and individuals in influential positions should be enablers for economic growth and help drive economic growth.”
In economic development, achievements of local business men have enhanced the city’s values. “Local business men also put city on global map, like they have done for Bengaluru in IT sector. The city has seen many stalwarts like NR Narayana Murthy, Azeem Premji and Nandan Nilekani who have done the city proud,” said Razack.
K Jairaj, former Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary, delivering Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya memorial lecture, spoke about four outstanding traits of Sir M Visvesvaraya – perseverance, integrity, vision and service to society.
Tallam R Dwarakanath, President FKCCI, in his address said that in 1999, DR Srikantaiah, during his presidency of the Chamber, had introduced the Sir MV Memorial Award to keep his memory alive.
