Over the weekend, India and West Indies will play back-to-back Twenty20 matches in Florida. The Indian cricket team, for the first time, will be playing an international match in the United States of America. The matches will start at 19:30 IST.

President of Myanmar U Htin Kyaw will arrive in India on August 27 on a four-day state visit with an aim to further expand the traditionally close relations between the two countries by stepping up engagement in diverse areas. This is U Htin Kyaw's first State visit after the assumption of office in March by the new government of Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy, bringing down the curtains on five decades of military rule.

Pro-Kannada organisations will stage a one-day rail bandh across Karnataka on August 27 to prevail upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the Mahadayi row. The Karnataka government, which has locked horns with neighbouring Goa on the issue, had petitioned the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal seeking release of 7.56 tmc ft for the Kalasa-Banduri Nala project. The tribunal has rejected the State’s plea citing various grounds, including ecological damage that the project may cause.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will conduct air-breathing propulsion experiment using its RH-560 rocket fitted with a supersonic combustion ramjet (Scramjet) engine on August 28 from Sriharikota. Space agencies across the world are focussing on the development of scramjet technology because it enables launch of smaller vehicles with more payload capacity and promises cheaper access to outer space.

The Supreme Court-appointed Justice RM Lodha Panel will meet on August 28 to discuss various issues concerning the BCCI, including the multiple complaints received against the Board. The Compliance Report with regard to the implementation of reforms is likely to come up for discussion. The Lodha panel wants 11 reforms to be implemented by October 15.
