Calcutta Business School (CBS), a Kolkata-based residential B-School, is introducing two new 2-year PGDM courses and repositioning one existing course.

Akhilesh Kumar, the new Director of CBS, told newspersons on Wednesday that the new courses on ‘global leadership in management and operations’ and ‘human resources and healthcare management’ along with redesigned course on ‘finance and international banking’ would be introduced in the forthcoming academic session starting next month.

“All these courses will have corporate partnerships in both first and second year in the form of ‘real projects’ in the companies. We have been talking to several corporate partners, including MNCs and foreign entities, for such engagements. The idea is to tailor-make the students’ learning in relation to specific needs of the companies,” Kumar explained.

The Director, formerly the Dean at MIT Sloan School of Management, said CBS, which has a record of cent percent placements since its inception a few years ago, is placing emphasis on entrepreneurship development, both for-profit start-ups and social enterprises.

“We have an incubation lab for student entrepreneurs, where they get guidance from industry experts. We are now roping in banks and other initial stage financiers for actual float of start-ups spawned by the students of CBS,” he added.

SK Birla said his group had invested about (Rs)90 crore so far in developing CBS in the past five to six years. Currently, AICTE approved courses can accommodate 120 students in every batch. In the last academic year, its student intake was 66.
