The Indian Ferro Alloy Producers’ Association (IFAPA) demands a level playing field by removal of anti-dumping duty on low ash metallurgical coke from China and Australia. It has also sought removal of anti-dumping duty.
According to a release issued by the association, the imposition of anti-dumping duty is also “a major setback” for the Make-In-India campaign. The high price of coke and imposition of anti-dumping duty make the industry totally unviable.
On November 25, the Union Finance Ministry through the Department of Revenue issued a notification imposing anti-dumping duty on low ash metallurgical coke imposed from China and Australia.
“Imposition of such drastic duty on low ash low phos Met coke has sounded the death-knell on the fledgling ferro alloy industry which is mostly located in the rural / tribal areas of the country employing more than a lakh people,” it further added.
