The total number of investor accounts in two depositories — NSDL and CDSL — stood at 2.69 crore at the end of November, with demat securities worth over ₹2.89 lakh crore, Minister of State for Finance Arjun Ram Meghwal said in written reply to the Lok Sabha on Friday.
A single investor can open multiple demat accounts. Individually, the total number of investor accounts at NSDL stood at 1.52 crore, while at CDSL it was 1.17 crore.
